This gorgeous boy is Jake and he is a 4 year old Terrier.
His story is a sad one as he came in to us from a home where he had lived for 3 years and was much loved and extremely well cared for. His owners were devastated to part with him as their bond was incredible. Jake suffers with some anxiety issues which can make him nervous and unsure in different situations. With the arrival of a new baby in the home, Jake struggled in some respects and the owners had to make the heart breaking decision to part with him and our search to find him his new forever home begins.
Putting his anxiety issues aside, once Jake knows you, and this doesn't take long, he is the MOST WONDERFUL dog you could wish to meet. He is incredibly sweet, friendly and affectionate. Once you build a bond with him, this will never be broken.
His favourite things in the world are: Playing fetch with a squeaky tennis ball. Getting his back and belly rubbed. Swimming - if he sees water, hes in it. The beach, or any open space where he can run and chase his ball. The woods - those squirrelly smells are just amazing! Greeting you when you come home from work or an outing - he loves to bring you a gift - this may be one of your slippers! The list goes on but you can find out the rest yourself...
Taking in to consideration the anxiety Jake struggles with, we dont know why and never will. Unfortunately, he cant tell us what bad experience he may have had in the past. What we do know is that he struggles to meet strangers to the house. He worries if there is too much going on outside, such as cars/people passing by. To combat these anxieties, Jake will need a quiet, mature, adult only household, with not too much hustle and bustle. He responds well to a firm but kind owner who will be patient with him and make him feel safe. He could live with another dog and this may even benefit him greatly. He would prefer a cat free home.
Jake will make the most amazing companion for the right owner and we endeavour to find him his new home as soon as possible. We are also considering a foster home so he doesn't have to stay in kennels.
