Meet our gorgeous girl, Shandy.
Shandy is a lovely, friendly senior-kitizen who is looking for a loving retirement home.
She is a quiet lady who likes her own space to snooze and relax.
Shandy came into the centre as she was found as a thin stray.
During her check ups we found she has renal disease, this is very common in older cats.
Shandy is on Royal Canin Renal wet and dry food to help with her condition, which will be for life, this can be purchased online.
She is also on medication called Semintra Oral Solution, which helps with her kidney disease.
30ml Bottle – Online price around £25 + vet prescription fee (around £17 depending on your vet).
It can also be purchased straight from your vets for around £55.
A 30ml bottle lasts just over 6 weeks, 100ml bottles can also be purchased which would be more cost affective.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is the most common type of kidney (renal) disease and refers to gradual onset, long term disease of the kidneys. This damage usually due to the natural aging process and is often seen in cats over seven years of age.
Sadly, the condition is not reversible and will deteriorate over time.
She will all need regular checks from your vet, which can include blood tests, blood pressure checks and urine tests.
(Between every 3-6 months ) She is next due a check up in May 2022.
Shandy could possibly live with a quiet cat or dog and children 10 years +
